Warframe Rhino Build Guide

April 29, 2014

Rhino build normal.png Normal mission build. This build has decent range, efficiency, and duration and mostly focuses on having more strength for Rhino’s abilities and sprint speed.

Rhino is a versatile tanky frame. He excels at boss fights, high level missions, and nightmare missions.

Aura: Rifle amp or Steel Charge, depending on which weapon you use more. I use Energy Siphon because I find myself using a lot of powers as Rhino.

Powers: All of Rhino’s powers are good. Rhino charge is like slash dash, but with a knockdown. Iron Skin makes you invulnerable for 3 seconds. At the end of the 3 seconds, the damage you took plus an amount based on your power strength gets turned into an armored shield that protects you and prevents staggers and stuns until it runs out. It can be recast as soon as it runs out. Roar boosts your team’s damage significantly. Stomp does some damage to a large area as well as stunning enemies for 8 seconds (affected by ability duration).

The main decision to make about Rhino’s powers are: do you like Charge and Roar? If you do not, you can use Fleeting Expertise and Transient Fortitude because Iron Skin is not affected by power duration, and duration only reduces Stomp’s stun duration.

Polarities: Two D polarities. Because of Iron Skin, you don’t really need defensive mods for Rhino. Steel Fiber adds to the amount of armor gained by Iron Skin and I prefer to at least run Vitality as well. Armored Agility adds to both armor and sprint speed, which is nice considering Rhino’s low base speed.

The Prime version of Rhino has an additional – polarity, which can be used for Streamline or Rush.

Corrupted/Nightmare Mods: Vigor is the only one I use, but even that could be replaced by Vitality. Fortitude and Constitution are poor options because you’ll spend most of the time with Iron Skin on. Fleeting Expertise is not a bad mod to use but it hurts Roar and Charge. If you use Fleeting Expertise, throw on Transient Fortitude as well.

Syndiacate Mods:
Ironclad Charge increases Rhino’s armor for every enemy hit by Rhino Charge. This is pretty useless since Rhino Charge isn’t very good and Iron Skin removes any use for armor.
Iron Shrapnel allows you to recast Iron Skin causing it to explode and damage nearby enemies. This mod isn’t bad. If you have only a bit of health left on Iron Skin, it might be worth using just to refresh your health pool. Overall though, I don’t think this ability is worth the mod slot.

Other Mods: Streamline and Intensify are good because they help Iron Skin. Stretch helps if you use Stomp a lot, but is otherwise not worthwhile. If you don’t have the pre-Update 12 Vanguard helmet, Rush is almost a necessity to keep up with the rest of the squad on non-defense missions. Transient Fortitude is great if you don’t care about Roar and Charge.

A note on Archwing: Recently, Archwing stats became disconnected from base Warframe stats, so it doesn’t matter which build or frame you use for Archwing.

Wow! I asked, and you delivered…and then some. Thank you very much! Also, congratulations on the baby! I have a six year old daughter and a four year old son, and man it goes fast. I know you’ve probably heard it a thousand times, but seriously, five years will be a blink of the eye and you will be wondering what happened to your little baby girl. Enjoy every minute of it. Thanks again for your Warframe builds.

Your welcome and thanks! I enjoyed writing these, and I’m already starting to get a few hits.

I feel I should mention that Rhino’s Stomp IS in fact affected by Power Duration. Duration makes the stun lock last longer.

Ok, I’ll update my Rhino guide. Stomp’s duration wasn’t affected a few patches back. It’s hard to keep all these articles updated so I appreciate the comment.

my rhino isnt a prime so can this build still work

    • February 22, 2016 11:16 am

Yes. If you don’t have enough mod points, you can still do a good build.
The aura should still be energy siphon or corrosive projection.
The most important mods for Rhino are power strength and power efficiency. You want your iron skin to last a long time, and you don’t want it to cost much to use. If you can leave the skin up, you don’t really need durability mods that are really important for the other Warframes, such as Redirection and Vitality. Past that, I like to use Rush, cause Rhino is so slow, especially the normal version of Rhino, and double especially if you don’t have the arcane vanguard helmet.

I have a question what kind of mods I need if my rhino rank 4 and I don’t have aura mods yet? Email me at [redacted] for the answer thanks for your help.

Powers don’t get good until a Warframe is maybe rank 20 or so. I would do Redirection, then Rush, then maybe Vitality. Once you get to level 20, add Streamline and Intensify. I emailed you. If you play on PC, I can give you an aura mod.
